The Haralson County School System,
serving the hills of Northwestern Georgia, has an enrollment of approximately 3,700 students. The system is led by a
superintendent and a Board of five members who are elected every four years. There are two primary schools
in the system for Pre-K to second grade students, two elementary schools for third-fifth grades, one middle school for sixth-eighth grades, and a high school for ninth-twelfth grades.
An alternative school program, available for students in grades sixth-twelfth, is provided by Ombudsman Educational
Services and is located in a stand-alone center in Buchanan.
The system proactively addresses the need for early intervention by offering preschool opportunities.
This includesl education prekindergarten serving three and four-year-old students with disabilities and eight
state-funded lottery Pre-K classrooms serving four-year-old students in the system. The Haralson County School system has
been recognized for being home to a Title 1 Rewards School and a Breakout School as well as having the Principal of the Year
and Nurse of the Year for the State of Georgia on staff.
Bremen City schools
The Bremen City Schools has a student
population of more than 2,000. As an independent school system, Bremen City Schools operates under the direction of a
five member Board of Education. Each of the elected board members serves a four year term. Bremen City
Schools employs a little over 250 employees. Jones Elementary serves Pre-K through third grades; Bremen Academy serves fourth
and fifth grades; Bremen Middle serves sixth-eighth grades; and Bremen High serves ninth-twelfth grades. Both Jones Elementary
and Bremen High School have been named Georgia Schools of Excellence. Approximately 30% of the student population of Bremen
City Schools pays tuition as they live outside the city limits of Bremen. Bremen City Schools offers a rigorous academic
program as well as countless extracurricular and co-curricular student opportunities.
West Georgia Technical College
The West Georgia Technical College serves the growing needs of Carroll,
